WILL L2 EMPURAAN SURPRISE IN HINDI AND WILL SIKANDAR EMERGE AS A BIG HIT?

The coming weekend will be an exciting one as the grand Eid entertainer, Sikandar, releases in cinemas. In an unusual move, it’ll arrive on the big screen on Sunday, March 30 and not Friday, March 28. This is because Ramzan Eid will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. The dull pre-Eid period on March 28 and 29 can prove detrimental to the collections. March 30 is also pre-Eid but it’s a Sunday and hence, a section of the audience will turn up to see it. In fact, they can spread the word, leading to higher collections on Monday.

If all goes well, Sikandar will open in the range of Rs. 28 crores and Rs. 30 crores. This number can go higher by a crore or two. If reports are encouraging, then Rs. 40 or even Rs. 50 crores on day 2 can’t be ruled out. There’ll be some Eid effect on Tuesday and Wednesday as well, which will go in favour of the film. The film will suffer a drop on Thursday but the earnings will increase from Friday, April 4 and this will go on until Sunday, April 6. However, if reports are negative, cracks will develop in the collections from March 31 itself.

Meanwhile, the highly awaited Malayalam film, L2 Empuraan, was released today in multiple languages across the world. The Malayalam version has taken the biggest opening possible for a Malayalam film. In Hindi, however, the response is dismal and it might struggle to collect Rs. 1 crore. The chances seem remote for the Hindi version to score. However, there have been miracles in the past. South films released in Hindi with negligible buzz like KGF - Chapter 1, Karthikeya 2 and Marco went on to become surprise hits. It remains to be seen if that happens with L2 Empuraan.
