Actor Shreyas Talpade has denied allegations of involvement in a fraud case registered by the Jammu and Kashmir police. Reports on Friday claimed he and 14 others allegedly duped villagers through a chit fund scheme. In response, his team issued a statement on his Instagram handle (screengrab above) dismissing the claims as “false, baseless, and devoid of merit.”

His team expressed concern over misinformation damaging reputations. “It’s unfortunate that a person’s hard-earned name is vulnerable to unfounded rumours,” the statement read, clarifying that Shreyas has no links to any fraud.

The statement also noted that as a public figure, he attends various events but has no role in their operations: “He has no nexus with any fraudulent acts. We urge fact-checking before spreading misinformation.”

His team reaffirmed that Shreyas remains a law-abiding citizen committed to integrity and professionalism.
