Reports of Govinda and Sunita Ahuja heading for a divorce has caused a stir in Bollywood. The two have been married for 38 years. While there is a lot of speculation around their separation, on Wednesday, Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, dismissed the stories doing the rounds. He claimed that Sunita did file for divorce six months ago, but things were resolved and all’s well between the two. To back his claim, he also added that they (the family) travelled to Nepal during the New Year and performed puja together at the Pashupatinath Mandir.

However, a source close to the couple told Bombay Times, “Sunita Ahuja went to Nepal with her daughter, Tina, and they performed a puja together. Govinda was there with this lawyer (Bindal), who is also his friend. Sunita was not even aware that her husband would be there too. She realized Govinda was there only when their paths crossed at the temple. The actor came in a day after Sunita and Tina’s arrival in Nepal. The couple even stayed in different hotels. So, claims of them offering prayers together as a family is untrue.”

Some even dismissed the story as a publicity gimmick. When asked about it, the source explained, “Who will want to end their 38-year-old marriage for publicity? Sunita has always been outspoken and doesn’t mince words.”
