SANAM TERI KASAM has taken over the box office with phenomenal collections with its two day business going over 9 crore nett.  The growth on the second day was 30% but it would have been more if there were no block bookings on the first day. These bookings are embedded in the film industry now which was always likely to happen once it started and its getting cheaper for the producer with various deals from exhibitors. Its become a week in week out scenario now.

For SANAM TERI KASAM, the response is fantastic and that is most important and its sure to run well from here on its own. Its the same story across the country and the reach is far bigger than any re run run as its going outside the big centres. Even certain single screens have seen collections and increased shows.

SANAM TERI KASAM's re run created history as it collected 15 crore nett in its first weekend which is unimaginable and unheard of in recent times for repeat run. There have been repeat run films post the pandemic but this is far bigger than other repeat run in terms of initial. It is just not the collections but the response is superb as crowds come and see the film in theatres having probably consumed on television before. More importantly its across the board which other repeat runs have not managed to do.

There are accusations of bookings but that is going to be the story for every other film now as it is heavily prevalent but eventually outside all this, there will always be public response; just feeding and bookings can never make a film run. SANAM TERI KASAM has done these numbers because of the response from the audience and it remains to be seen where it goes from here.

There is a big release next week with CHHAAVA but its also Valentines Day on Friday and SANAM TERI KASAM can really benefit from that as its in the zone where the Valentines Day crowd will come. The response to the film is superb in all core Hindi circuits from Delhi/UP to Rajasthan to Bihar. Delhi/UP has notched up around 4.25 crore nett which is similar to the LOVEYAPA all India number. The collections are over 50% more than the combined total of the new releases BADASS RAVI KUMAR and LOVEYAPA.

SANAM TERI KASAM, which grossed around 8 crore nett in its initial run, is now a huge HIT in its repeat run as it grossed in the 3-3.25 crore range on Monday. Eventually it maybe that a flop film in initial run turns SUPER HIT or even the unthinkable a BLOCKBUSTER. The drop is only around 25% for the film on Monday and its set to go on a huge run. No repeat run film has even got close to 3 crore nett on the opening day let alone on day four.

In the past, there were many films from the 60's, 70's and early 80's which were phenomenal in multiple repeat runs. From the 50's, there was MOTHER INDIA and GHAYAL from the 90's and SANAM TERI KASAM is in the same category. But in the modern era, films in repeat runs have limitations compared to the older times due to these films being available on the other formats.

The collections of the film so far are 18.50 crore nett and the film could go anywhere. There is Valentines Day on Friday and if there was not a a new release, it was pretty certain the best day for this film would have been second Friday; this is still possible, looking at the momentum. There is block bookings and feeding tag on the film in the industry but that's the trend today and industry will have to get over that as no film works like this on bookings and feeding.

The film is scoring across all Hindi circuits with superb collections. The first week should go to around 27 crore nett which will be as much as last week's DEVA. If we add the initial run business then the number will go to 35 crore nett.

SANAM TERI KASAM maintains its steady run over the weekdays as it collects 2.75 crore nett on Tuesday which now takes the film to 21 crore nett and its looking a 26 crore nett first week for the film. Then it will be Valentines Day on Friday which will give the film a lift no doubt. There are realistic chances for the film to do 50 crore nett if it can continue a decent run despite the competition of CHHAAVA. 

There is a limited audience out there so no doubt the film has taken the audience away from films like BADASS RAVI KUMAR and LOVEYAPA, especially the latter as the bulk of its audience is the sa,e. Its a mixed bag out there with many theatres running on normal rates and others on discounted rates. Its youth dominated as the earlier shows see better response than evening and late shows.

The collections will not be totally organic as the film has been aided by bookings but the trend is there for the film and it is standing on its own feet. Even if we take out the bookings, its still huge number for a repeat run film. Now it remains to be seen where the film lands on Valentines Day.

SANAM TERI KASAM has scored an excellent first week with collections of 25.75 crore nett apprx with solid holds post the weekend which itself was very good. The film has the advantage of Valentines Day on its second Friday which should ensure superb collection despite the release of a big film like CHHAAVA.

It has clearly overshadowed the new releases BADASS RAVI KUMAR and LOVEYAPA and probably affected the latter as the youth audience went for this film. This film had collected 8 crore nett in its initial run in 2016 and now the first week is more than treble of that though there were some block bookings in this first week number. 

The film will easily be the highest repeat run film as already it is behind TUMBBAD which did 30 crore nett. SANAM TERI KASAM will cruise past that number and it remains to be seen where it goes. Now it also remains to be seen where the film lands on Valentines Day.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood release INTERSTELLAR also did fantastic in week one as it did around 15 crore nett but it is only running for one week.

SANAM TERI KASAM came down on the second Friday due to the competition of CHHAAVA as the screen count dropped and also that little push this film was getting from bookings was taken away. The film managed to collect 1.10 crore nett on its second Friday which takes the total of the film to 25.65 crore nett. The film should have scored better on Valentines Day but was not to be.

The film needs a 30 crore nett total to beat TUMBBAD as the top re release and should get there in a few days time. YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI collected around 20.50 crore nett and its comfortably above that film and well above other films of a similar genre like JAB WE MET and LAILA MAJNU.

The film was a FLOP in 2016 but becomes a HIT as it is looking to maybe close at around 45 crore nett including the first run. Its the second film to change its verdict after TUMBBAD.
