For actor Tejasswi Prakash, Republic Day has always been a special occasion. Recalling her childhood memories around this day, she shares, “As a child, I loved Republic Day as it was a no-school day. I remember waking up in the morning with patriotic songs, traditional Indian snacks and a day full of family time.”

But as she grew older, her understanding of the day deepened. “Once I grew up, I realized what the country means to me and how blessed I am to be living in the world’s biggest democracy,” says the 31-year-old, adding, “This year, I will be shooting but I’m looking forward to a day of patriotism on the set.”

Reflecting on her career, she feels it wouldn’t have been possible for her to land opportunities, had it not been for the diversity and richness that India offers. “India is a land where one can dream big and can see your dreams come true. I am blessed that as an actor I get to travel across the nation, receive love from people belonging to all walks of life.”

Ask her about her favourite patriotic song and Tejasswi responds, “I’m a proud Indian who doesn’t mind being in any part of the world and singing a patriotic song, and saying ‘Mera Bharaat Mahan’. I love all patriotic songs!”
