(Crisp) Movie Review: FATEH by FENIL SETA

Fateh features Sonu Sood not just as an actor but also as a director, writer and producer. It essentially deals with cyber crime and also touches upon the horrors of loan apps. This novel idea, however, is barely utilized in the film. Instead, the focus is more on a brutal assassin who has left violence but gives up on a peaceful life for a loved one. We have seen this in many, many films before including the recently released Baby John. The action is slick and gory but again, it is too similar to Animal and John Wick. What works are a few sequences here and there and the pace of the film. Also, Sonu Sood has delivered a fabulous performance. He looks quite cool while doing action. Jacqueline Fernandez delivers a sincere performance. Naseeruddin Shah and Dibyendu Bhattacharya (cop) leave a huge mark. Vijay Raaz is seen in a different avatar and it works. Akashdeep Sabir is there for just one scene and is too good. All in all, Fateh is a disappointing fare.
