MUFASA: THE LION KING put up a decent first weekend with collections of 32.50 crore nett in its first weekend. The film showed good growth on Saturday and Sunday. The growth on Sunday was actually very good but it could be more to do with holiday period starting this week as all films showed higher than normal jumps on Sunday.
The film has done well in Nizam/Andhra and Tamil Nadu with Mysore also pretty decent. But business is lackluster in Mumbai and Delhi NCR which are the other key markets for Hollywood. The growth was there on Saturday and Sunday but the circuit figure are much lower than they should be. The plus for the film will be the holiday period over the next ten days or so which can enable the film to continue to put up the numbers but even then it wont match the expectations from the sequel of THE LION KING, which remains the sixth highest grosser from Hollywood in India.
Despite the trend the collections are just not there for the film. The three day collections of MUFASA: THE LION KING are as follows.
Friday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 10,75,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 14,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 32,50,00,000 apprx
The Hindi release VANVAAS collected 3 crore nett over the weekend and also managed very good growth on Sunday but as mentioned above its more to with the Sunday generally having a good trend. This film is a limited release and at lower collections and because of these reasons, it managed a bigger jump than the rest of the films on on Sunday.
The collections of VANVAAS are as follows.
Friday - 65,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 90,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 1,35,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 2,90,00,000 apprx
