Singham Again: Censor Board Modifies Ramayana References In Film, Cuts Over 7 Minutes Of Footage
Box Office India Trade Network

SINGHAM AGAIN scored well on its first day as it collected 37.5-38 crore nett and managed to finish 5 crore nett up on the competition BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 when the opening in the morning was less in many parts of the country. The film ran better in current as it has a bigger male mass audience but as its a big budget film with many actors. it turned out to be practically a national holiday and the film needed higher collections on this day.

The collections are good for the potential it had to collect and in fact they can be called very good in that way but not for the budget of the film as the film needed to be around 50 crore nett considering it turned out to be a big holiday. If not 50 crore nett, then 45 crore at least should have been the first day earnings. Basically the clash has not let the film do what it needed to do while BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3, being a smaller film with lower expectations, has got collections which are more than it needed.

The highlight for the film was Mumbai circuit which will be in that 14-15 crore nett which is actually among one of the top 5-7 collections ever in the circuit and its come in clash when the other film has also collected over 10 crore nett. A 25 crore nett total combined in Mumbai is insane as JAWAN holds the record and was a little over 17 crore nett. PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE can maybe eye this Mumbai combined total on its own though it has to be taken with a pinch of salt as feeding is likely to be here as it always most prevalent in Mumbai.

SINGHAM AGAIN was pretty much clean in advances but what the industry calls corporate booking seems to be evident in current which is sad. Despite this good first day number, the film has a lot of work to do as the weeeknd should go over 100 crore nett. But in terms of business for big films, a higher number is needed. The film has a higher contribution in Mumbai circuit and hence, it could drop more than BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 as that circuit behaved like an outright national holiday on Friday.

The highlight for the film was Gujarat as it challenged the highest day ever in the circuit of KGF - CHAPTER 2 and it is the silver lining for the film as Gujarat has an extended holiday. So, it can continue to benefit here but on the other side were dull collections in East Punjab and West Bengal. Overall it is a good Diwali with 70 crore nett coming between the two films. It is actually great if we take the 70 crore nett on face value but that's not actually the case is reality.
-----------------------------------------
SINGHAM AGAIN has done well on Saturday as it collected around 38 crore nett plus showing a minor drop but the trend is weaker than BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 which managed small gains. The business in multiplexes was pretty flat or even up in places but the film had a higher ratio of business coming from places like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Nizam/Andhra which were always going to go down.

The two day numbers of the film are still good at 78 crore nett and the film is going to be comfortably over the 100 crore nett mark for the weekend and despite expectations being higher, a clash does limit the potential of the film. The concern is that the trend is weaker than BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3 and that has to change at some point for the film to actually do well. Being an action film, this is tough as they tend to be more front loaded.

The film continues to go strong in Gujarat and that is the bright spot and holidays in the state post the weekend will help but the problem is that Rohit Shetty films tend to do well mainly in West and Central. Today, with the sort of collections needed, that may not be good enough especially as Maharashtra in the West just does not perform like before for the majority of films. Like BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3, SINGHAM AGAIN has benefitted from the two day holiday period and collections are likely to drop on Sunday as well but it cannot afford to drop more than BHOOL BHULAIYAA 3.

The collections of SINGHAM AGAIN till date are as follows.
Friday - 40,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 38,25,00,00 apprx
TOTAL - 78,25,00,000 apprx
