(Crisp) Movie Review: SINGHAM AGAIN by FENIL SETA

Singham Again starts on an okay note. The screenplay is of convenience and has too many cinematic liberties. The first half also has limited action. However, blockbuster director Rohit Shetty makes up for these minuses with some superb whistle-worthy scenes. The Ramayana angle is very well woven into the narrative. And of course, to see so many actors together is sure to give a high. I wish so many of their scenes were not shown in the trailer. Yet, it still makes an impact. As expected, Ajay Devgn turns into something else when he plays Bajirao Singham. Kareena Kapoor is graceful and performs ably. Ranveer Singh has a crucial part and he is too good. He brings the house down with some of his jokes. Akshay Kumar has a late entry but he makes up for it with his sheer presence. Tiger Shroff's entry is sudden and he proves yet again that he's one of the best when it comes to action. Deepika Padukone plays to the gallery well and looks cool while doing action. Arjun Kapoor is a surprise and succeeds in putting up a convincing act. Jackie Shroff is okay. Dayanand Shetty, Shweta Tiwari, Ravi Kishan (Minister Raj Jaishankar) and Viren Vazirani (Shaurya; Singham's son) are decent. Lastly, Salman Khan is hardly there but his presence adds to the fun. All in all, Singham Again is a film meant to be enjoyed in the cinemas, preferably in a single-screen theatre. Don't look for logic or story; just enjoy the coming together of so many stars, a phenomenon which has happened after ages and no one knows when it'll happen again.
