Kanguva is mounted on a grand scale. A few scenes stand out and the father-son bond is touching. However, the film is too loud and needlessly has excessive violence. The humour doesn't work and moreover, it gives a deja vu of Baahubali, Devara and even Kalki 2898 AD. The film ends with a promise of a sequel and it doesn't excite viewers at all. The sound design is horrible. If your projection guy plays the film without lowering the volume (like it happened in my show), then God save you. Suriya, however, looks superb and gives more than a hundred per cent to the role. Bobby Deol looks menacing but his role leaves a lot to be desired. The child actor (whose name is nowhere mentioned on the internet by the makers) has a crucial part and does way better. Disha Patani is wasted although she has a fine screen presence. Yogi Babu (Colt 95) and Redin Kingsley (Accelerator) are okay. All in all, Kanguva is avoidable.
