Police ‘not convinced’ by Govinda’s version of bullet injury; daughter Tina’s statement recorded

Mumbai Police is investigating the incident where actor Govinda sustained a leg injury after his revolver allegedly misfired. Alongside this, the Crime Branch has launched a separate inquiry, as officers remain unconvinced by Govinda’s explanation.

Led by senior inspector Daya Nayak, a Crime Branch team visited Govinda at Criticare Hospital, where the actor maintained that the gun went off after falling, striking him in the leg while he was alone at home early Tuesday. However, reports suggest that the authorities might re-record his statement as they remain sceptical of the details.

Govinda’s licensed Webley revolver, which was reportedly unlocked at the time, discharged near his left knee. Although no formal complaint has been filed, investigators are proceeding cautiously, scrutinising the incident thoroughly.

Tina Ahuja, Govinda’s daughter, has also been questioned by the police. Her statement has been recorded as well.

Celebrities including Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Rajpal Yadav visited Govinda at the hospital. Tandon wished him a swift recovery, while Yadav praised his fortune, stating, “His good karma saved him from what could have been a fatal accident.”

Authorities are expected to continue their investigation, with more clarity anticipated in the coming days.
