GOLDEN DHANTERAS PLANS

This Dhanteras is extra special for actor Nushrratt Bharuccha as it has coincided with the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream — owning a Range Rover. She tells us, “I think the universe aligned its arrival around Diwali; I had booked the car around eight months ago and had no idea how long the waiting period would be.”

Coming from a middle-class family, Nushrratt Bharucha admits it is not just a car for her. “Jab aap ek gaadi lena chahte hain jo aapke reach ke bahut baahar hoti hai, usko hard work karke jab aap apne paison se khareedte hain, wo bahut badi baat hoti hai. I come from a middle-class family and no one in my family has ever been in a luxury car. Range Rover has always been like a dream of mine. So, it means a lot that I have been able to achieve that dream,” she says.

Interestingly, she hadn’t even told her parents about the car: “Nobody knew about it except the dealer and me. So, when the car was delivered, I took my parents down and just pulled the covers off. They were both shocked and surprised. I don’t think they’ll be able to explain their emotions to me properly.”

So, has she driven her dream car yet? “Not yet. I will take it out for my first drive on Dhanteras,” she says.

The actor says that Dhanteras is not just about buying things for her. “On Dhanteras, I celebrate wealth as a whole, not just monetarily or in terms of gold or silver. I think of the fact that I’m with my family, we are all in good health and together, living a good life. We’re not fighting for everyday survival. Within our means, we live comfortably. My life is very wealthy like that,” she shares.

Ask Bharuccha about her Diwali plans and she says, “I host my friends in Mumbai who cannot go home during Diwali and do a little puja at my house. I light five diyas and pray. It makes me feel a part of the festivities and the emotion of it.”
