For actor Anjini S Dhawan, who made her debut with Binny And Family last month, charting her own path in the industry is her focus.
Being related to filmmaker David Dhawan and actor Varun Dhawan, one might be burdened with the family legacy, but Anjini says, “I didn’t feel any pressure because everyone’s journey is different. As actors, two people cannot have the same career path. While I love my family and am proud of them, I’m just looking forward to my own journey.”
The 24-year-old admits that Binny And Family is not the kind of film she’d imagined for her debut: “If you had asked me three years ago, I’d have said that I would make my entry in a shiny dress, with my hair flying. But this script hit home. I was very close to my nana, and we lost him a year before this story came to me. So, it felt like he had sent it to me.
The actor says she learnt a lot from her father Siddharth Dhawan’s acting career. She shares, “I learnt to never take yourself seriously. Work is just a part of your life; it cannot be your whole life.”
As for her equation with Varun, who is technically her uncle, she says, “He’s been like an older brother to me, giving right advice and guiding me.”
Rumoured to be a part of actor Salman Khan’s Sikandar, she doesn’t confirm the news but she says, “I’ve watched Partner (2009) over 100 times. So, just having my name associated with his project is extremely exciting.”
