(Crisp) Movie Review: JOKER: FOLIE À DEUX by FENIL SETA

Joker: Folie à Deux tries to attempt something different in this space but fails. The film begins well and the love affair scenes are maddening. The courtroom scenes also engage in places. On the flipside, there are too many songs. This is not Frozen or La La Land; to see such characters breaking into songs every now and then is bizarre and also tests the patience of the audience. The narrative is also a bit complicated and the final scene might bewilder the audience. Joaquin Phoenix, yet again, rocks the show. Last time, he astonished us with his act. This time, we know what to expect and he impresses. Lady Gaga gets into the skin of her character and the way she performs merely through her expressions is seen to be believed. Her voice, of course, is soothing. Catherine Keener (Maryanne Stewart), Leigh Gill (Gary Puddles), Bill Smitrovich (Judge Herman Rothwax), Brendan Gleeson (Jackie Sullivan), Steve Coogan (Paddy Meyers) and Harry Lawtey (Harvey Dent) lend able support. All in all, Joker: Folie à Deux is an epic disappointment.
