STREE 2 has smashed records all over but has gone step further in North India as its on its way to cross the 200 crore nett. This will be the first time that a film will ever cross 200 crore nett from the North belt (Delhi/UP and East Punjab). GADAR 2 would have achieved it too but the clash with OMG 2 restricted it in the Delhi/UP market especially NCR area. Punjab was not a problem as it has huge capacity.
Basically there are five zones of North, East, South, West and Central with West (Mumbai, Gujarat) and North being the biggest for Hindi films. The west zone had hit 180 crore nett with BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION which was the highest total seen pre pandemic for a zone but this will be the first time any zone has gone over 200 crore nett. The surprise is that this market is probably the most star driven of all where big budgets dominate. STREE 2, however, is not a star driven film which shows how the markets are changing post pandemic.
GADAR 2 had collected around 190 crore nett in North India, ANIMAL was 173 crore nett, JAWAN was 160 crore nett and PATHAAN was 152 crore nett. Before the pandemic it was BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION which did around 150 crore nett. The growth has come in Delhi/UP as GADAR 2, ANIMAL and STREE 2 will all finish up with similar totals to BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION in East Punjab.
