Singer-composer Himesh Reshammiya’s father, music director Vipin Reshammiya died on Wednesday night. In a media statement issued on behalf of the family, close friend Anup Singh said, “A kind soul with a heart full of love, his presence lit up the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, cherished memories and timeless music.”

Vipin was admitted to a suburban hospital in Mumbai and was reportedly suffering from breathing issues and age-related health problems. His last rites were conducted at the Oshiwara crematorium.

Vipin has composed scores for several notable films throughout his career, including Insaf Ki Jung (1988), and The Xpose (2014) and Teraa Surroor (2016) - both films starred Himesh in the lead.

In 2021, Himesh spoke on Indian Idol 12 about how his father composed a song with late singers Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar which was never released. He had shared a clip on Instagram, writing, “I feel that it’s one of the finest classic melodies of all time which should come out in the market for all music lovers and I will be bringing the song out in the market soon. (sic)”
