STREE 2 has collected a huge $5.25 million apprx in four days as it picked up hugely over the weekend as the first day was only around $875k though it was a Thursday. Many markets picked up on Friday and then Saturday went to a huge level. The Gulf market was almost three times on Saturday as compared to the first day.

The performance is universal as its a word of mouth film in all the circuits and going by the pick up, the word of mouth is very positive. The film should become the highest grossing Hindi film overseas this year with this weekend trend.

The worldwide collections of the film are around 278 crore with around 235 crore (195 crore nett) in India and 43 crore ($5.25 million) in Overseas and this year. KALKI 2898 AD has the best figure at a little over 400 crore. There is little doubt that STREE 2 has good chances to beat that before the week is out.

STREE 2 had a huge hold on Monday as collections were 15% higher than Friday thanks to Raksha Bandhan holiday. The film collected a huge 37 crore nett as mass pockets generally collected more than Friday with Gujarat leading the way and getting collections similar to day one. It became the highest grosser in the state of 2024 in just five days.

The lower collections for the film were generally in South India but this area is still doing very well but just not as good as the rest of the country. The film has now amassed around 232 crore nett in just five days plus paid previews and the first week depends on how the film goes over the next few days.

There will be a drop post the holiday on Monday but the Raksha Bandhan period remains in some states for a few days. These places will hold up better and it will be Thursday or Friday when the film will come down to a level which is normal and not propped up with the holiday factor. The plus for the film is that it is doing extraordinary business in the likes of UP, MP and Rajasthan where the Raksha Bandhan holiday last a few days.

An early assessment of the business of the film is that it should comfortably beat the numbers of KGF- CHAPTER 2 (Hindi). But STREE 2 has a long open period in front of it which can take the film to a higher level. STREE 2 is likely to be a dominant factor at the box office through September as there is nothing much in that month.

STREE 2 recorded the fifth highest Monday in history as it collected 37 crore nett. The higher ones are TIGER 3 though there it was just the second day as it released on Sunday. And then there is BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION, GADAR 2 and ANIMAL.

The main thing here is that most of highest Mondays are holidays and with STREE 2 being one of them and very few are normal days. The highest normal day is GADAR 2 but that was before a huge national holiday. So, it can be called a partial holiday though officially it was not. 

Then there is ANIMAL which is actually probably the highest non holiday Monday ever and STREE 2 has picked up a similar number to ANIMAL but on a holiday and hence, the fair value is lower than the the Monday of the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer.

Although in the industry there is of talk of a 500 crore total it is a very hard task as ANIMAL just about got there with a far higher Monday on fair value. The plus for STREE 2 is that it collected 60 crore nett plus with that extra day in the weekend and paid previews. As a result, it has a lead over ANIMAL but this will be eroded by the end of the week and it could be that the first week of ANIMAL and eight days of STREE 2 are the same. The STREE 2 advantage is an open September but if you are chasing a huge total like 500 crore, then the bulk has to be done over the first two weeks.

STREE 2 had another big day as it collected 25 crore nett to take its six day total to 257 crore nett. There was a drop from Monday but Monday was a holiday for Raksha Bandhan. Hence, the drop was coming. The drop is still limited as in many states, the Raksha Bandhan factor is still in play.

There are many states in the Hindi belt which recorded huge collections and they were all around the Saturday totals and if not that high at least more then Friday. UP, Bihar and MP were all simply out of this world and recorded the sort of collections that no other film has recorded on day one or even Sunday this year.

The drop did come in Gujarat/Saurashtra after a crazy Monday and went to a more normal level but still collections are outstanding and its looking set for a huge run here. It probably won't be like GADAR 2 or KGF - CHAPTER 2 here but still better than the rest post pandemic.

The huge collections in the Hindi belt means there are still drops to come and this holiday factor will be mostly over on Thursday. But it may well be that Friday will probably be the first day where the film is at its normal level with no holiday push in any part of the country.

STREE 2 has recorded the seventh highest first Tuesday of all time but these is benefit of the holiday factor in many states and hence, its a partial holiday. The highest collection ever is GADAR 2 at 55 crore which came on Independence Day while ANIMAL sits second with 33 crore nett and that came without a holiday. The only film over 30 crore nett without a holiday.

The other big non holiday film is BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION but generally to get to around 25 crore nett on a Tuesday, holiday support is needed. Also if we take out GADAR 2, then all the other films are biggies driven by budgets or stars while STREE 2 is far smaller film in terms of size.

The trend of the film is weaker than the likes of GADAR 2 and ANIMAL but is stronger than KGF - CHAPTER 2 which was around 20 crore nett on its first Tuesday and fair value of STREE 2 maybe just a bit higher than 20 crore nett.

STREE 2 maintains very well on its seventh day with excellent collections of 19.50 crore nett taking the film over the 275 crore nett. The collections still remain a inflated in UP, Bihar and CI but most of this will go out of the window today.

The film is heading for 290 crore nett plus extended week which is the same as ANIMAL but that came in seven days. If we compare the first seven days with ANIMAL, then STREE 2 has beaten it everywhere except South where the director of ANIMAL was a huge plus. East Punjab had that regionality for Punjab political and collections were huge there which is not the case for STREE 2.

The next two days will tell how this film compares with the likes of ANIMAL and GADAR 2 as week one collections look in a similar range to those films. It may not be at the level of those two films as we get into the second week but GADAR 2 saw a four week run till JAWAN and ANIMAL had a 2 week run till the Xmas releases. Here, with STREE 2, there are no such obstacles so could collect for longer.

STREE 2 collected a huge 294 crore nett in its extended eight day first week with 17.50 crore nett coming on Thursday which was the eight day. The hold was very good on Thursday and the holiday factor is now totally done across UP, MP and Bihar.

The film is competing with the likes of PATHAAN, JAWAN, GADAR 2 and ANIMAL and has actually out done these films in many pockets. In fact it has scored over PATHAAN, JAWAN and ANIMAL in the most of the core mass Hindi circuits while it has beaten GADAR 2 in South and East India (except Bihar). 

The week was a huge one with the holidays being aplenty and falling at the right time. But still, a film has to have the merits to pick up phenomenal collections like 294 crore nett no matter how many holidays you have. It was the same for KHEL KHEL MEIN and VEDAA but they could hardly collect anything.

The film is comfortably going to reach the 450 crore nett mark and its about how much higher it can go. The best comparison will be ANIMAL as that just about touched the 500 crore nett mark in Hindi and E2 is ahead by 2 crore nett after the first week. Its likely to fall behind ANIMAL in week two and three but then ANIMAL suffered due two huge releases in DUNKI and SALAAR. With STREE 2, there are no such huge obstacles.
