Someone once rightly said: “What greater gift than the love of a cat?” Actress Saiee Manjrekar earnestly vouches for the quote. The Dabangg 3 actress is a cat mom to two fur babies – Ella and Bella. As the world celebrates International Cat Day today, Saiee talks about how her feline friends changed her as a person.
'It is the most beautiful relation, but also the most complicated one in my life'
While talking about her "babies", Saiee tells us, “I'm close to my cats and I love my two babies. But my equation and relation with them is probably the most complicated relationship I have in my life. On days when I'm very excited and happy, I want to go cuddle them, give them kisses, and they'll walk away from me. They will not even give me a second glance. They are just going to be like I do not wish to be hugged or kissed right now, so, I'm going to walk away from here. But on a day where, I'm probably feeling a little low, I'm sitting in my room, a little upset, they will be the first to sneak into my room, come on the bed and just chill with me till I feel better... just purring away. It is the most beautiful relation, but also the most complicated one in my life."
'Being a cat mom teaches you a lot about selfless love'
Ironically, Saiee previously had dogs as pets. It is only in 2021, that she became a cat mom, and she admits she has become a different person.
“The most interesting and exciting part of being a cat mom is learning to love unconditionally and not expecting anything back. It teaches you a lot about selfless love. Once you can do that, I feel like it helps a lot with life. To love and not expect anything in return is a very difficult thing to do and having a cat teaches you that,” she mentions.
She goes on to add, "My cats have changed me a lot. Being a dog mom for so many years, I expected a lot when I give anyone anything in a relationship; it would be my friends, my parents, and my significant other. You tend to expect a lot from people when you love them a lot. Having a cat teaches you to give without expecting anything in return. That's such a beautiful feeling. The idea of being able to give love, be kind, be nice to people, be genuinely real without ever expecting anyone to do the same is just a very big burden lift off your shoulder."
'It's so important to celebrate them because they're there when you need them the most'
Talking about her cats Ella and Bella, the Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha actress shares, "Ella and Bella are the 100% owners of the house. If they are hungry at a certain time, they must get food then. If they don't want to be disturbed at a certain time, it is their time. If they are napping - ‘No one go in that room’, is a sentence that is said in my house. It's so important to celebrate them because they're there when you need them the most. The consensus is that cats are cold and closed off. But when they have to be there, they can be warm and loving."
Saiee recalls the most cherished memory she has with her twinsies. She recalls, "The day they came home, they were a little scared because the environment was new. They spent most of the day sitting in one tiny corner. But I remember at night I'd kept the door open if they wanted to enter. I didn't expect them to, but I remember them sneaking inside slowly jumping on the bed and spending the whole night next to me. They picked me as their person."
