Since 2013, actor Sumona Chakravarti had been a part of the main cast of Kapil Sharma’s comedy show, during its TV run, first as Comedy Nights with Kapil and then The Kapil Sharma Show. However, in the recent OTT version, The Great Indian Kapil Show, Chakravarti has been noticeably absent.

The actor addressed this in a recent interview. “One project finished, so [Sharma] began another project, and I am doing another. That’s all there is,” she said.

However, we have learnt that she is “upset” about being excluded. “She expected the entire cast would be retained for the digital version,” a source tells us, adding, “She always thought that the jokes about her dialogue delivery were limited to having fun on the show. She never thought that it would affect casting.”

Currently, Chakravarti is shooting for Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. “[Her exclusion from the show] is the reason Sumona took KKK 14. Kapil’s show was the primary thing connected with her body of work for almost a decade,” the insider adds.

We reached out to both Chakravarti and Sharma for a comment, but didn’t get a response till the time of going to press.
