Actor Sharmin Segal has been on the receiving end of heavy criticism for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar and her “negative” interviews.
Segal has been facing flak for what many consider to be dismissive remarks about her co-stars; in a now-viral video, the actor seemed to refer to her co-star Sanjeeda Shaikh as an “outsider”. During the interview, Shaikh called Bhansali a “perfectionist”, to which Segal responded: “It’s is a very basic word to describe [Bhansali], it’s what an outsider, would use.”
When asked if she feels an “insider versus outsider” narrative was created over her interviews with Shaikh and actor Aditi Rao Hydari, she replied, “This is something I don’t know... my interviews were taken out of context. I share a very cordial equation with both Aditi and Sanjeeda. I wish people would not use 10-second clips to define the relationship I share with them.”
