The Idea Of You, which releases tomorrow (May 2) on Amazon Prime Video, is a love story between a 40-year-old divorcee and a 24-year-old boy band singer. The plot is cliched and mostly predictable. The beginning is shaky. But as soon as the lead characters meet and the sparks fly, the film goes on another level. The way their love story blossoms is sweet and seems organic. The conflict that arises in the second half is a bit over the top but very believable. The makers also raise an important point about ageism, trolling, paps etc. Anne Hathaway too takes the film many notches higher. She looks out of the world and her performance is outstanding. Nicholas Galitzine puts his best foot forward and his chemistry with Anne is electrifying. Ella Rubin (Izzy), Reid Scott (Daniel) and Annie Mumolo (Tracy) are decent. All in all, The Idea Of You is a must watch, especially for fans of romance and Anne Hathaway. After a long time, a Hollywood love story left me feeling high; it gave me similar feeling I experienced after watching movies like A Walk To Remember, Notting Hill, The Holiday, Crazy Stupid Love etc
My rating - **** out of 5!
