The new release this week RUSLAAN had dull collections of 45-50 lakhs nett which was lower than last weeks DO AUR DO PYAAR which netted 50 lakh plus. The plus for RUSLAAN was the genre as its an action film while DO AUR DO PYAAR had more face value as it had a known female lead.

The problem with RUSLAAN is the face value as in Hindi cinema, its extremely rare for an out and out action film to work when the lead has not found acceptance with the masses. Generally, action fares work with established stars due to the acceptance they have.

A start like this for a film like DO AUR DO PYAAR still gives that film a chance although it did not find acceptance but its impossible for an action film like RUSLAAN to go anywhere after a start like this.

MAIDAAN remains the top performing film at the box office as collections of the film went up and were higher than all the weekdays of the second week by a decent margin. The film will have a steady third week at the box office though overall collections are not going anywhere.
