Raveena Tandon has been part of some iconic Hindi movies of the 1990s, including Mohra and Andaaz Apna Apna. Cut to the 2020s and the actress has reinvented herself with projects like Aranyak and KGF: Chapter 2, among others. In a chat with us, the actress shares that she is open to embracing new challenges and experimenting with different genres. Excerpts from a chat:

‘Teaming up with Ranveer Singh or Ayushmann Khurrana would be dynamic’
Among her most-remembered roles is the one from Rajkumar Santoshi’s cult comedy Andaaz Apna Apna.

Ask her if she would love to do a remake of the film and Raveena says, “I would be thrilled to revisit Andaz Apna Apna. Reimagining this comedy with a fresh perspective would be an exciting challenge.”

As for her co-stars in a possible remake, the actor tells us that she would want to collaborate with someone who can bring a unique flair and enthusiasm to the project. “Teaming up with Ranveer Singh or Ayushmann Khurrana would bring a dynamic energy with a modern twist while paying homage to the original characters,” she says.

‘I am drawn to stories that offer depth and complexity’
After over three decades since her debut, the actor loves storytelling through films and complex characters just as much as she did back then. What drives her role selection now, we ask. “At this stage of my career, I am drawn to stories that offer meaningful narratives and allow me to portray characters that have depth and complexity,” says Raveena, who will soon appear in the third instalment of the Welcome franchise—Welcome To The Jungle, and Ghudchadi, opposite Sanjay Dutt.

Highlighting the growth of Indian cinema, she adds, “The industry has undergone significant changes, both in terms of storytelling and technological advancements. There is a notable shift in the emergence of diverse narratives and the willingness to explore unconventional themes now. There’s also a greater emphasis on authenticity and realism. It’s an exciting time for Indian cinema.”
