SHAITAAN had a strong hold on Monday as it collected 7.50 crore nett on Monday which is a 50% drop from Friday but that was a holiday in most states due to which it had inflated collections. The real value drop for the film is probably around 30-35%. which means its stronger than it actually looks.
This takes the film to 62 crore nett in four days and with a solid hold on Monday, it is a HIT and its just about where the film can go from here. The film did see a big fall in Gujarat which made the difference being at around the 7.5 crore nett mark rather than the 8 crore nett mark. The weeeknd was also average in the state and now has fallen on Monday as that remake factor hits business. The film is a remake of a Gujarati film.
The Gujrat drop means Mumbai circuit showing a bigger drop but outside, the holds are good in all the main areas. The film is basically a lottery for Ajay Devgn and the makers as recovery will be around 200 crore form all revenue sources and there will be a UK rebate to come as well.
Ramazan has also started which will be affecting the box office somewhat and generally, collections are less from Sunday. SHAITAAN will face competition every week now but that should not be an issue as films tend to hold very well for weeks when they trend well on Monday. The only difference is this film is in that genre which is not really horror for the masses and is more towards the physiological/supernatural thriller space. Though it has scored strongly till date in mass pockets, it could feel the heat in time.
The four day collections of SHAITAAN are as follows.
Friday - 15,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 19,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 20,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 62,00,00,000 apprx
