Pranutan: PR should happen about my work, not my life

Being papped at the gym, airport, here, there and everywhere is part and parcel of a celebrity’s life. But Pranutan Bahl doesn’t want to make her personal life the centre of attention.

Bouncing back with an announcement of an English film recently, the actor says, “I am not papped constantly and there are a number of reasons for it. I live in South Mumbai that is not a hub for the paparazzi or the film industry. So, I am quite cut off, which I love. This is my world and acting is my job, I don’t like to mix the two. This has kept me very grounded.”

The 30-year-old, who began her acting career with the film Notebook (2019), adds, “When I step out of my house, I could just be the next-door neighbour, and not surrounded by paps. As much as I love and respect them, sometimes, that distance is required or you get distracted. You may forget that you are actually in the industry to act. I am clear that I want to have a career in acting.”

Even though she is the daughter of actor Mohnish Bahl, hobnobbing with industry people and being seen out-and-about is still crucial for an actor’s career. “PR (public relations) should happen about my movies, not about my life. I deliberately stay away from always being visible. I like talking about my movies, and that’s the one thing I would like to keep as sacred as I can,” she ends.
