ARTICLE 370 had a very dull opening day as it picked up around 70-75 lakhs nett business and most of this was from the big multiplexes. A dull trailer meant a limited audience in theatres as its tough to get people out for this zone even if trailer gives promise of some entertainment.
Its a tough ride from here though there should be some good gains on Saturday. The film is basically for television but there are always going to be exceptions here and there. So, you hope you are the ones who get lucky like 12TH FAIL but that will not be the case here as the opening day is on the wrong side of 1 crore.
There was a Hollywood release also with DUNE: PART TWO which was actually released on Thursday but on a limited release and collected almost 70 lakhs nett. This was only the larger format screens and on Friday the film picked up around 2.50-2.75 crore nett which will mean a near 3.50 crore nett total in two days. Again the film is mainly for the bigger multiplexes in metros.
There were other releases like DANGE and KAAGAZ 2 and also your regular so called pan India film OPERATION VALENTINE and you do not need to be too clever to guess that none of the films could register collections as the normal moviegoer would not even be aware of these films.
