Fighter Box Office Collection Day 6: Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone's Film 'Shocks India, Rocks Overseas'
Box Office India Trade Network

FIGHTER held up well on Tuesday but this hold was likely as it was not just this film that took a hit on Monday but generally the box office had fallen heavily post the holiday weekend. When this happens, there is a chance the drop next day will not be much. Basically there is a bit of a recovery the next day.

The film collected 6.50 crore nett on Tuesday and the drops were around 10% across the board with the mass pockets doing a little better as they are at lower levels. This takes the film to 128 crore nett and the business remains at low levels despite the fair hold on Tuesday as that Monday drop was heavy.

After a drop like Monday, its difficult to recover but the idea is not to totally fizzle out totally like many films do when they drop heavy on Monday. If the film can continue this trend for the next few days, it can set itself up for some fair second weekend collections. A better way to put it is far better collections than most would have expected after that big Monday fall.

The film again has illustrated the problem films have with mass centre penetration and this has been there for many years even before the pandemic. But earlier, the bigger centres covered the cracks which is not happening anymore as seen with DUNKI and now FIGHTER.

The box office collections of FIGHTER till date are as follows.
Thursday - 23,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 38,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 26,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 27,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 6,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,28,25,00,000 apprx

FIGHTER continued to do better in overseas as it picked up another $725k taking its total to around $7.8 million. The film saw a pick up in US/Canada on Tuesday as there are offers there but the pick up was probably a little more than many films before as collections more than doubled.

There are dropping collections in United Kingdom which means this market will fade out leaving the film depending on US/ Canada and Australia/New Zealand mainly. There was a hope of a UAE release but that will not happen now.

The film is going to finish with good results in overseas and if it gets to $12 million plus without Gulf release, this will actually look better than the $21 million of DUNKI which came over the huge Christmas/New Year period and that too in a year when Hollywood did not offer much in this bumper period.

But this means little for the overall performance for the film as when its a big budget Hindi film, its about getting it right with the core audience. The problem for the film are the numbers of all the core circuits across India. Markets like Rajasthan and CI are looking to finish with numbers in the same range as TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR and this is basically the failure of the film.
