ARTICLE 370 did very well on day one as it collected 5.25-5.50 crore nett though collections slowed in the evening and night shows as capacity restrictions at the bigger multiplexes came into play due to the discounted rates. The film was pretty much full in advance at these big multiplexes due to which the collections hardly moved in the evening and night shows.
This is will not be there on Saturday and it can push forward even though the admits may well only be 50-60% of day one. Overall its a good opening day number and the film should do well at bigger multiplexes. Its not a film like THE KASHMIR FILES or THE KERALA STORY which has wider support. But it should do good business in the bigger centres and that will be more than enough.
CRAKK also did well on day one as it collected around 4 crore nett. This film got benefit of ARTICLE 370 being full in the evening at the bigger multiplexes as it had spare capacity and made use of it with the lower rates. The number is probably not good enough for this type of film which will be more front loaded as collections are better in the mass centres compared to ARTICLE 370.
The film has a heavy budget especially for the face value of the film and is likely to find it tough going as basically it needed a higher number than ARTICLE 370 be it on discounted rates or not as you cant rely on trending for a film in this zone.
Both films have punched a little higher than they should due to the discounted rates but if ARTICLE 370 runs and works at the box office, then it will not really be that beneficial as a lot of audience has got to watch the film at a discounted rate when they may have paid the full rate later. No doubt if the films don't work, then these discounted rates would be beneficial as they get an audience which otherwise might not have come.
--------------------------------
ARTICLE 370 is on course to emerge a HIT as it showed strong growth on Saturday and collected 7.25 crore nett apprx. The growth is around 40% but in real terms it is much more than that as the first day day got some benefit of lower tickets rates.
The film showed more growth at the multiplexes where the tickets are more expensive as its a wider gap here between the discounted ticket rates and the normal rates. The cinemas which have lower ticket rates on normal hardly showed growth. The two day total of the film is 12.50 crore nett and it will easily go above the 20 crore nett mark for the weekend.
The film is doing good all over as major centres performed well in all circuits. The film does not have mass penetration but the content is supportive of the ruling party and these things can change if major political support comes. Even if it does not come, it should still do well enough and a good Monday hold will be enough for the film.
The two day collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 7,25,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 12,50,00,000 apprx
CRAKK saw a big drop in collections which was likely as day one saw it benefit from other movies being housefull due to the discounted rates at major multiplexes and this was not there on the second day. The film dropped over 60% and it collected only 1.50 crore nett which pretty much seals the fate for the film.
The film got benefit of Cinema Lovers Day but never had much of an audience for the film itself.
The two day collections of CRAKK are as follows.
Friday - 4,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 1,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 5,50,00,000 apprx
