As Netflix Drops Nayanthara Film For 'Hurting Sentiments', Internet Divided

Mumbai: Naya Nagar police in Mira Road filed a case against the director, producers and actors of Tamil film ‘Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food’ for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and promoting ‘love jihad’.

The complaint was filed on Thursday by a member of a right-wing organization. Eight persons, including actors Nayanthara, Jai and Sathyaraj, and director Nilesh Krishnaa, have been booked under Sections 153-A (promoting enmity), 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) and 505 (2) (offence committed in place of worship) read with 34 (common intention) of the IPC.

Earlier, complaints were filed against the film at Oshiwara and Lokmanya Tilak Marg police stations against Nayanthara and others associated with the film.
