In a day and age often rife with discussions about the trajectory of Bollywood, big screen vs OTT, prevalent notions about the audience’s changed preferences post-pandemic, and so on, actor Vikrant Massey’s recent film 12th Fail emerged as an unexpected hit. And with this, Massey too, refuses to conform to the idea that audiences solely favour grand-scale productions in theatres post-pandemic, neglecting smaller films in favour of OTT platforms.
“People are quick to make assumptions. We live in an age of swift judgement and validation through social media. These notions are merely noise; I don’t pay too much attention to this anyway,” the 36-year-old asserts. He firmly believes that “sincere storytelling resonates across any medium”.
Reflecting on discussions surrounding the decline of Bollywood, Massey highlights the hastiness in labelling such phases, stating, “The talks, notions about Bollywood’s slow death only prove that we jump to conclusions.”
The year saw a lot of milestones for Massey, including completing a decade in films: “I couldn’t have asked for more. The amount of love coming my way... my heart is full. What is a better feeling than people going to the theatre and watching your film?”
