Animal Box Office Collection Day 5: Ranbir Kapoor's 'Unstoppable' Film Races Towards Rs 300 Crore
Box Office India Trade Network

ANIMAL continued its extraordinary run at the box office with collections of 32.50 crore nett on its first Tuesday which takes the total of the film to 240 crore nett in Hindi. The drop is only 15%  with some circuits showing an even lesser drop.

A 30 crore nett plus number has never come on a Tuesday before when there has not been a holiday and in fact outside holidays, even a 25 crore nett number has not come which shows the level at which ANIMAL is collecting. The week is heading for a number around the 290 crore nett mark depending on the drops over the next two days.

The lifetime of the film is dependent on a few factors with the first being where the film lands on the second Friday which could be a record number for the second Friday. The trend of the film suggests a 500 crore nett plus number but there are obstacles in the way like the two big Christmas releases which will curtail the business in a big way. Basically, if the film is to get 500 crore nett, it has to be there or at least very close within the three weeks. The way it is going at the moment this is very much possible but there is a long way to go.

The five day numbers of ANIMAL in Hindi are as follows.
Friday - 52,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 56,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 61,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 38,00,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 32,50,00,000 appprx
TOTAL - 2,40,00,00,000 apprx

The film stands at around 28.50 crore nett in Telugu in Nizam / Andhra  in five days and a further 4 crore nett in dubbed formats across the rest of India. This gives a dubbed total of 32.50 crore nett and an all format total of 272.50 crore nett.

ANIMAL recorded the fourth highest Monday ever of all time but the three films above it all had some holiday support. TIGER 3 was a huge national holiday and it was only the second day for the film after a Sunday release. So, that can actually be discounted but for the records, the fact is that it was the first Monday of the film.

BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION was a holiday and while GADAR 2 was not a holiday; it had an advantage of there being a huge national holiday the next day which would have benefited the film. The actual best first Monday which has no holiday or holiday affect is JAWAN and that film collected a little over 28 crore nett and ANIMAL is 10 crore nett higher than that film.

The collections of ANIMAL on Monday are also 13 crore nett more than the other major grossers post the pandemic (PATHAAN and KGF - CHAPTER 2). A 30 crore nett number is phenomenal for a weekday especially without a holiday and now it remains to be seen how many days it can stay above 30 crore nett over the weekdays as that is difficult to do for one day without holiday support.

The top Mondays of all time are as follows.
1. Tiger 3 - 56,08,00,000 (Holiday, Day Two)
2. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion - 39.81 crore (Partial Holiday)
3. Gadar 2 - 38.36 crore
4. Animal (Hindi) - 38,00,00,000 apprx
5. Tiger Zinda Hai - 36.53 (Holiday)
6. Housfull 4 - 34.12 crore apprx (Holiday)
7. Krrish 3 - 29.64 crore (Holiday)
8. Jawan (Hindi) - 28,61,00,000
9. Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 26.78 crore (Holiday)
10. KGF - Chapter 2 - 25.24 crore
11. Dangal - 24.98 crore
12. Sanju - 24.63 crore
13. Pathaan - 24.51 crore
14. Simmba - 21.19 crore
15. PK - 21.15 crore
15. War - 20,18,00,000  (Partial holiday)
16. Dhoom 3 - 19.87 crore
17. Ek Tha Tiger - 18.96 crore (Holiday)
18. Tubelight - 18.14 crore (Holiday)
19. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - 17.68 crore (Holiday)
20. Rustom - 17.48 crore (Holiday)
--------------------------------
ANIMAL recorded the highest non holiday Tuesday of all time only behind GADAR 2 which got benefit on Independence Day and recorded an insane 55 Crore nett. But if we look outside the holiday factor, then only ANIMAL is above 30 crore nett and only ANIMAL and BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION are over 25 crore nett.

The trend of the film is superior to JAWAN and PATHAAN though those films had extended weekends. Hence, these films would have suffered more fatigue on the weekdays. It is a little weaker than GADAR 2 though it has higher collections and GADAR 2 had its fall on Thursday. It remains to be seen where ANIMAL is on Thursday. The first week business of ANIMAL will be higher than GADAR 2 and both were a Friday release and ANIMAL has had no holiday support.

GADAR 2 collected around 235 crore nett after the first week and if ANIMAL does that, it would be a comfortable 500 crore nett plus total. But as mentioned before, the run will face a huge two huge obstacles in the face of DUNKI and SALAAR after three weeks.

The top first Tuesday collections of all time are below

1. Gadar 2 - 55,23,00,000  (Holiday)
2. Animal - 32,50,00,000 apprx
3. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Hindi) - 29,78,00,00
4. Simmba - 27,93,00,000 (Holiday)
5. War - 27,13,00,000 (Holiday)
6. Kick - 26,82,00,000 (Holiday)
7. Housefull 4 - 24,07,00,000 (Partial Holiday)
8. Jawan - 23,08,00,000
9. Dangal - 22,39,00,000
10. Sanju - 21,62,00,000
11. Tiger Zinda Hai- 21,60,00,000
12. Krrish 3 - 21,33,00,000 (Partial Holiday)
13. Pathaan - 20,97,00,000
14. Bajrangi Bhaijaan - 20,78,00,000  (Partial Holiday)
15. PK - 19,87,00,000

ANIMAL continues its extraordinary run in Nizam/Andhra as it collected a huge 6.66 crore nett in the circuit on Monday. The Hindi version was outstanding as it crossed the 3 crore nett mark while the Telugu version is doing roaring business also with 3.50 crore nett plus on Monday.

The film should comfortably cross the 50 crore nett mark in five days and should end the week at almost 60 crore nett. The Hindi version should soon start collecting more than Telugu. The Telugu version will be the highest grosser for a Hindi film by the end of the week and the second week will tell where it will go.

The Hindi version will for sure be the highest grosser in the circuit as it will beat the numbers of JAWAN and PATHAAN and if this pace keeps up it could beat by a margin and that is when PATHAAN and JAWAN beat the previous best by a margin. There was this dumb talk about how Telugu cinema would become the biggest in the country but talk means nothing. The fact today is that Hindi films have slowly and silently upped their pie in this circuit and numbers always speak louder than words.

The fact that post JAWAN and ANIMAL the 100 crore nett becomes realistic is in itself huge as there will not be many local films which have hit this mark with genuine collections and not the crazy numbers that go around. The first time a film did 100 crore nett in Nizam/Andhra was BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING in 2015 and that film went to 150 crore plus. After that, there will probably around 15 films to go over 100 crore and if ANIMAL does the miracle, it will join the list. The collections of ANIMAL in Nizam Andhra are as follows.

Friday
Hindi - 6,09,00,000
Telugu - 8,55,00,000
TOTAL - 14,64,00,000

Saturday

The ANIMAL phenomena continued in Nizam/Andhra as overall collections remained rock steady while the Hindi version in Nizam/Andhra actually showed a strong jump. The jump on Tuesday in Nizam/Andhra is not reflected in the collections as much as it should in the Hindi version as there was the regular fall in the Marathawada side of the circuit. The hold is crazy for this circuit especially with a regional version there.

The Hindi version collections just edged past the Telugu version and it should continue to do better from here till the end of the run. The film stands at a historic 52 crore nett in just five days and collections are rock steady even in Telugu at the moment. But this can drop of in the second week depending on the competition from local films. Nevertheless, it has already collected as much as JAWAN did in Telugu.

The Hindi version will for sure be the highest grosser in the circuit as it will beat the numbers of JAWAN and PATHAAN and if this pace keeps up, it could beat by a margin and that is when PATHAAN and JAWAN beat the previous best by a margin. The collections of ANIMAL in Nizam Andhra are as follows.
