For Swara Bhasker, this Diwali is special, as it’s her first after marriage to politician Fahad Ahmad and her first with daughter Raabiyaa. While it is a special occasion, the actor plans to give grand celebrations a miss this year.

“Had it just been our first Diwali after shaadi, we would’ve had a big party. But, my baby is only six weeks old. I am in Delhi and the air quality here is hazardous. So, I can’t take her out. Like any paranoid parent, I am being cautious [about Raabiyaa’s well-being]. We do have family and friends coming over though,” she says.

The 35-year-old is a “party animal” and has been “hosting Diwali parties every year”. “This time, I will take a break, as I don’t want my attention to be diverted. My focus right now is just my baby,” she tells us, adding, “Also, I am too tired to party (laughs).”

Ahmad will be travelling from Mumbai to Delhi to be with Bhasker and Raabiyaa on Diwali. Ask if her husband gets involved in Diwali festivities and the Jahaan Chaar Yaar (2022) actor says, “We don’t pressurize each person to do anything they don’t want to do. Festivals, for us, are all about sharing the happiness. We don’t have to be boxed in by any religion or identity to celebrate that. We have an easy relationship and know when to let the other person do what they want to.”
