(Crisp) Movie Review: APURVA by FENIL SETA

Apurva, which has released today on Disney+ Hotstar, is about a girl running away from crude, heinous kidnappers in Chambal. There's not much of a story and yet, writer-director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat keeps viewers gripped. The duration is just 100 minutes and that also helps. One scene in the pre-climax is clapworthy. On the flipside, the initial portions are okay and quite disturbing too. The ending is underwhelming. Also, a few scenes remind viewers of NH 10. Tara Sutaria, however, delivers the finest performance of her career. Rajpal Yadav, known for his comic image, is convincing as the baddie. Abhishek Banerjee is natural. Sumit Gulati (Balli), Aaditya Gupta (Chota) and Dhairya Karwa (Siddharth) cop are fine. All in all, Apurva is a decent thriller and worth watching.
