Kartik Aaryan and Tara Sutaria were recently spotted together in public, which left people wondering: is something brewing between the two actors? Are they going to be working on a film together? And is it Aashiqui 3?

The last question has been a hotly discussed topic for the past few months. The third instalment of the franchise will be helmed by Anurag Basu, who dismisses the rumours.

He tells us, “The female lead of the film has not been finalised yet. Everything out there is a speculation.” When we mention Sutaria specifically and ask if she has been chosen, he says, “No, no one has been finalized.”

The first two parts of the Aashiqui franchise were huge hits. The 1990 film, starring Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal, propelled them to fame, overnight. Actors Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur came together for Aashiqui 2 (2013) and created magic on the big screen.
