MISSION RANIGANJ opened to a dull response as it collected 2.75-3 crore nett. The collections of the film looked to be coming under the 2.54 crore nett of SELFIEE when the film opened. But it managed to beat that film by around 10-15% though it hardly matters much.

The simple fact is the trailer was better than SELFIEE and it should have opened better and maybe even double of that film. Sadly, the audience has shown no interest in the film and with such an opening, it is a difficult ride going forward. This sort of cinema had a chance pre pandemic but today its tough with a star like Akshay Kumar unless its an established franchise where the audience knows about the film like OMG 2 or DRISHYAM 2.

The film should grow and maybe even compete with the holdovers in terms of growth but with such a starting point, there is not much hope unless somehow Monday shows up with better numbers than the Friday. 

THANK YOU FOR COMING is similar to THE VACCINE WAR last week with collections of 75 lakhs nett apprx but this sort of stuff just gives Hindi cinema a bad name. No other regional cinema would make a film like this and although these sort of films are NOT reflective of Hindi cinema, the fact they are there gives that negative image of Hindi cinema with families even though its just a few films here and there. On top, the film is for sure a crapfest which the final footfalls will no doubt reflect.

DONO is also very poor and has been released with the Rajshri strategy of a very limited tight release of 300 shows across the country which they would be hoping to grow. But an urban love story today is unlikely to hold much appeal for the public. The film released on Thursday and has collected around 20 lakhs nett over the first two days.
