The dubbed Hindi version of Tamil film LEO has done well in Hindi collecting 2.75 crore nett on day one with Mumbai circuit being around the 1.25 crore nett mark. These numbers have come without the four biggest multiplex national chains and if these were playing, the collections may well have gone towards the 4 crore nett mark.
The normal ratio would give it a higher potential number if the big multiplexes played but obviously the audiences who would have seen it in the bigger chains have seen it at other places. The film had a good release on around 1100 cinemas in Hindi though the high collecting multiplexes were not in play. These are by far the best numbers of a South dubbed film this year. The film is said to be linked to VIKRAM (2022) or a part of that universe. VIKRAM did not do well in Hindi but found some appreciation post release with a certain audience and that would have helped this film.
The film has scored very well in Tamil in the Hindi circuits collecting 1.10 crore nett and this is again without the bigger multiplexes. Here, generally in original language, the collections come from bigger multiplexes and so, this 1.10 crore nett number is bigger than it looks. There was another 15 lakhs nett from the Telugu version which gives the film a solid 4 crore nett in all formats in the Hindi circuits.
The all India business of the film should edge past the 60 crore nett mark as it becomes the first Tamil film in history to cross 25 crore nett in Tamil Nadu.. The collections are also extraordinary in Nizam/Andhra, Mysore/Karnataka and Kerala especially the last named which has probably never seen collections like this even from a local film.
-------------------------------------
The Tamil film LEO took an opening of 62 crore across India in all formats with the highest ever opening day numbers ever seen in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The latter just fell short of the 10 crore mark but it was still a phenomenal collection and was higher than KGF - CHAPTER 2 and the local Malayalam films. In fact, prior to LEO, only KGF - CHAPTER 2 and 2-3 Malayalam films had crossed the 5 crore mark.
The opening at an all India level on all formats is the third best of 2023 after ADIPURUSH and JAWAN which were at 73.50 and 72.50 crore nett respectively. The business in Hindi film circuits look low but are pretty good for what the film is worth as it has limited value in the Hindi speaking areas.
The film collected 2.70 crore nett in Hindi across the country with practically zero collections from the South. There were some decent numbers coming from Maharashtra, CP Berar, Gujarat and Odisha. The second day will see a fall as GANAPATH cuts into its screens but it should do some decent numbers again over the weekend.
Below are the collections of LEO from all the circuits across India in all formats and the collections from Hindi circuits include the the regional versions playing in the circuits.
