Lalu Prasad Yadav, a prominent Indian politician, has been the subject of interest and attention time and again due to various reasons. Now, we have exclusively learnt that his eventful life will be showcased in an upcoming biopic. An official from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Lalu’s political party, tells us, “Yes, the film is happening and work has been going on for the last five-six months.”

Another source close to the development reveals that the film will be backed by Lalu’s son, politician Tejashwi Yadav. “The rights of the script have been obtained and Prakash Jha’s production will be taking the project forward. The film is in the scripting stage for now,” the insider adds.

The story will delve into the “lesser-known aspects” of his life and provide a “comprehensive understanding” of his journey and achievements. The source further shares, “Final touches are being given to the script. Soon, the casting for the same will also begin. As per the discussions that are going on, it is expected to have actors from the Hindi belt.”

When we reached out to Jha for a comment on his association with the project, he laughed it off. However, Chitranjan Gagan, state spokesperson of RJD, neither denied nor confirmed the news.

Gagan said, “If a biopic is being made on Lalu ji, it is a good thing. There is keen interest about his life among all sections of people, including youngsters. Several books have been written and films have been made on him in the past as well.”
