(Crisp) Movie Review: MISSION RANIGANJ by FENIL SETA

Mission Raniganj is inspired by a true incident of a man who rescues 65 men trapped in a mine. The film's VFX is bad while the first half is just okay. But post-interval, the film rises. A few scenes are truly clapworthy and the finale is nail-biting, though it has a cinematic liberty. Speaking of performances, Akshay Kumar, as always, delivers a commendable performance. Parineeti Chopra is wasted. Kumud Mishra is unconvincingly smoking in every scene. Dibyendu Bhattacharya (Das) is too good. The same goes for Pavan Malhotra (Bindal) and Virendra Saxena (Tapan Ghosh). Rajesh Sharma (MLA) is over the top. From the miners, Ravi Kishan (Bhola), Jameel Khan (Pasu), Sudhir Pandey (Behra) and Varun Badola (Shaligram) are memorable. All in all, Mission Raniganj is a decent effort.
My rating - *** out of 5!
