(Crisp) Movie Review: DHAK DHAK by FENIL SETA

Dhak Dhak, produced by Taapsee Pannu, is about four women bikers on a trip to Khardung La Pass. This was a story waiting to be told and the writers and director Tarun Dudeja have done a fine job. The characters are well-established and the film is peppered with some funny and emotional sequences that strike a chord. However, the conflicts that arise in the second half are not established well and even defy common sense. Also, nothing much happens in the first 20-30 minutes after the interval. Fatima Sana Shaikh gets the maximum screen time and handles the important part with ease. Ratna Pathak Shah, as always, is a pleasure to watch. Dia Mirza delivers a superb performance. Sanjana Sanghi is a bit overboard in some places but overall, it's a watchable performance. Other actors who do well are Dheerendra Dwivedi (Shabbir; Uzma's husband), Kallirroi Tziafeta (Martha; Manjari’s foreign friend) and Ozgur Kurt (Bernett). Dr Lakha Lehri (Taran; truck driver) is adorable. All in all, Dhak Dhak is a decent film and deserves to be seen in cinemas, though the makers haven't promoted the film much.
