Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s younger daughter Khushi, who is set to make her acting debut later this year, recently made her maiden appearance at the Paris Fashion Week. On her return to India, she spoke to BT (which also happens to be her first interview ever). “I was really excited to be there. I was venturing out of India for the first time to do something on my own, away from films and into the fashion world. It was exciting to start finding my footing,” she says.
The fashionista tag may come with a certain pressure for others, but that doesn’t hold true for Khushi. “I’ve never really felt the pressure to look or dress a certain way or fit into any box when it comes to fashion, that’s the best part. I think people like what I wear because I don’t try very hard to be liked by others,” she shares.
But does she worry that her fashionista image might overpower the actor that she aspires to be? “Fashion is a medium for me to express myself, and it’s completely different from the work aspect of me. I believe that if you do well enough in your work, then it will speak for itself. So, that’s not really been a worry in my head. I’ve always separated the two, and fashion is fun for me,” she explains.
‘It’s a part of fashion to experiment and step out of the box’
Does that mean she will never step out of her comfort zone when it comes to fashion? “I like stepping out of my comfort zone to try different things because I don’t like conforming to what I see people around me wearing all the time. It’s not like I don’t like following certain trends, but I do think it’s a part of fashion to experiment and step out of the box,” Khushi says.
