The Great Indian Family rests on a great plot. The makers could have done so much with a subject like this. The childhood track is great and a few aspects are creative. But after the twist in the tale, the goings-on are neither as funny nor as hard-hitting as intended. The monologue in the climax is lovely but comes too late in the day. Vicky Kaushal, as always, is very sincere. Manushi Chhillar's screen presence is arresting. But she is wasted. Kumud Mishra, Manoj Pahwa and Yashpal Sharma are too good, as expected. Alka Amin (bua Sushila Kumari), Sadiya Siddiqui (chachi Hema), Srishti Dixit (Gunja; sis), Hittesh Arrora (Abdul) and Devang Tanna (Pintu) are fine in supporting roles. Bhuvan Arora and Ashutosh Ujjwal are okay. All in all, The Great Indian Family is a great disappointment.
