‘Being away from home doesn’t affect my personal life’

Richa Chadha recently spent two months in London shooting for her next, Aaina. The actor, now back home in Mumbai, says though she is used to being away for long, she does miss home.

“Being in a new city doesn’t affect my personal life. Being actors, we are used to travelling and staying away from home. We get used to this sort of a lifestyle,” says Chadha, who got married to actor Ali Fazal in a traditional ceremony in October last year.

However, she admits she does get homesick. “And that reflects on my social media as I am posting regularly about my time in India. I start missing Indian food, spices, people, my family and friends,” adds the 36-year-old, who copes with the feeling by diving into work.

Aaina marks Chadha’s first international project, in which she will be seen alongside The Chronicles Of Narnia actor William Moseley. Set in London and India, the film is being directed by debutant Markus Meedt. However, the actor does not want to term it her “debut international project”.

“It is an Indo-UK production. The best part of working on this film has been meeting with William Moseley. Also, I’m trying hard to bring the nuances of what it means to be an immigrant trying to scrape pennies together and make a living in this expensive city,” she shares, adding, “We waited a long time to start this.”

Is the actor keen on taking up more work internationally vis-à-vis in India? “I hope something good happens. But, I don’t have any plans as such. If I did, I would have to head to Los Angeles, where there is a strike [going on] at the moment,” she shares.
