Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani Box Office Collection Day 9: Alia Bhatt's Film Witnesses 'Superb Growth'
Box Office India Trade Network

ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI had an excellent hold in the second weekend as it collected 31 crore nett apprx and took its overall total to 100 crore nett plus in ten days. The film is mainly about 4-5 cities which are contributing a huge chunk to the overall pie. Its a bit like those five centre films before the pandemic like GULLY BOY and smaller films like PINK and PIKU where bulk of the business comes from a few cities.

The drop from the last weekend is just 30% and that is the plus for film as collections in week one were decent for the genre but not for the budget of the film. But in the second weekend, it has covered ground. So, the overall number of 100 crore nett now also looks good which was not the case after the first week.

The third Friday is likely to determine the lifetime business of the film and it will all be down to metros as contributions outside will hardly be anything. Overseas is exceptional and the film may emerge a BLOCKBUSTER there with the second best collections post pandemic but that also depends on how the film fares over the next two weeks.

The collections of ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI till date are as follows.
First Week - 69,46,00,000 apprx
Friday - 6,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 11,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 13,25,00,000 apprx
Third Weekend - 31,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,00,46,00,000 apprx
-----------------------------------
ROCKY AUR RANI KII PREM KAHAANI has seen an extraordinary hold in overseas markets as it picked up $3.25 million in its second weekend which is a drop of just 20% from the first weekend. The film has comfortably crossed the $10 million mark and is still going strong.

The overseas numbers is the actual victory of the film as not only has it sustained very well but collections are very good in all markets. Canada saw its highest day on Sunday which was day ten and a small market like Singaopre had a second weekend which was better than the first weekend.

Alia Bhatt is a bonafide star in overseas while Karan Johar films also have a branding in this genre especially in the traditional markets of US/Canada and UK and all this is helping the numbers of the film. The restrictive release in the West due to BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER is also helping it sustain so well.

Hindi films need x amount of shows at certain properties in US/Canada and UK due to a huge sub continent diaspora in these areas but that was not possible with BARBIE and OPPENHEIMER running so strong. So although the film got the cinemas, it did not get the shows it required in key properties and a lot of the audience had to wait to catch the film.

The film is still very strong and may even go towards the $15 million mark. Before it opened, the expectations on advances was around $9-10 million but it has crossed that in ten days alone.

The apprx collections in the major markets are as follows.
United Kingdom - £975,000 ($1,250,000)
US/Canada - $4,500,000
Gulf - $2,800,000
Aus  A$1,000,000 ($700,000)
Rest Of The World - $1,250,000
TOTAL - $10,500,000 apprx (ALL OVERSEAS)
