Rohit and Jaadoo are set to return to the big screen, as Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) will be re-released in cinemas across 30 cities on August 4. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the film starred Hrithik Roshan, Rekha and Preity G Zinta.

As the film clocks 20 years on August 8, a nostalgic Rakesh says, “The film has an emotional story of a mentally challenged boy (Hrithik) and his relationship with his mother (Rekha), friends and Nisha (Preity), the only girl who understood and accepted him. Then there was Jaadoo, the endearing alien, who emoted through his eyes. The film was created with minimal VFX.”

Talking about how Koi... Mil Gaya has stood “the test of time”, thanks to its dialogues, the 73-year-old adds, “A film needs to have a strong emotional bond with its audience. I think Koi... Mil Gaya connected with the kids. A lot of emotions were conveyed through its memorable dialogues like, ‘Mere papa se seekh kar aaya hoon’, ‘Mujhe kuch dikhai nahin de raha hai maa’, ‘Haila Jaadoo’, etc. I have seen them being used in many situations, especially in memes.”
