Gadar 2 Box Office Collection Day 5: Sunny Deol Juggernaut Makes August 15 'History,' Shoots Past 200 Crore Mark
Box Office India Trade Network

GADAR 2 collected a huge 55.50 crore nett on Independence Day and it would have been a lot more but the film has capacity issues as it is not a solo release. So, there is a limit to as how far it can go. It could only really make up ground where there is a little under performance and occupancy is lower. Many theatres had hit the limits on Sunday and were unable to go higher.

This is good in the long run for the film as the people who could not get tickets on Independence Day will watch later enabling the film strong holds. The film is going to create HISTORY as the appreciation for the content is huge all over. This will mean more records broken going forward.

There is no doubt that Delhi/UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, CI and Bihar will set new records beating whichever film is on top at present. These were the traditional strongholds of the Deols (Dharmendra and Sunny Deol) until the quality of films went down. But again it shows nothing much changes when the content is there and its those same areas leading the way again.

The film has a running total of 226 crore nett so far and there is no stopping the film. It is likely to be the highest nett grosser ever but a key number is the BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION's number in Mumbai circuit. If this could be even challenged, then the film will be putting up an all India number way ahead of the rest. At the moment this number looks far but the Gujarat/Saurashtra market can hold like anything so you give it a chance.

The collections of GADAR 2 are as follows.

GADAR 2 smashed all records for business on the first Tuesday and this is how records should be broken. It is 25 crore nett higher than the nearest competition. This 25 crore nett number is a number that 99% of films are unable to open to and here we have a film which is breaking an ALL TIME RECORD by that margin.

There are no words to describe what is happenning out there on the ground level. We can say its history repeating itself like what happenned in 2001 by GADAR - EK PREM KATHA. But that was a long time and the industry has changed so much and many would actually not know the way GADAR - EK PREM KATHA created history.

There was the national holiday there which helped the film smash the record by this distance but even if it was not a holiday, it was going easily smash the number of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION by a margin. The records story is probably starting now as everything will be DESTROYED from here on and put at such a level that it becomes hard for any other film to match for sometime. This is what GADAR - EK PREM KATHA did in 2001 and GADAR 2 is basically 'The Destruction Continues' instead of 'The Katha Continues' in pure box office terms.

On a side note, even OMG 2 managed to get into the top twenty first Tuesdays. If that was not there GADAR 2 would be looking at a 75 crore nett total and more box office destruction.

The top first Tuesday collections of all time are below
1. Gadar 2 - 55,50,00,000 apprx (Holiday)

GADAR 2 is simply unstoppable with crazy collections of 32.50 crore nett which is under 20% drop from the first day. There was a holiday in Mumbai circuit which has meant the collections in this circuit are better than Friday and Monday. Gujarat is extraordinary with collections in the 4.50 crore nett range. The film is on a run here like most other places but this one is important as it holds so well weeks after release.

The total collections of the film are 259 crore nett in six days and it will be recording the highest seven day collection ever after PATHAAN. Now it remains to be seen where the second Friday lands. There will be a major drop in Mumbai circuit on Thursday as it has been like a holiday period since Monday. The first week business of the film should be in the 282-284 crore nett range.
