Anshuman Jha’s film Lakadbaggha might have not hit the commercial bull’s eye upon its release in cinemas in January this year. But on OTT and abroad, it seems that the film has found its connect.

The actor, who also produced the vigilante drama, tells us, “It didn’t get its due in theatres for sure. It is just a very strange time, many bigger films are not doing well either. I am so glad Pathaan did well. The audience is slowly coming up. We definitely got more than our due on OTT and crossed 50 million views in under a month.”

Now, the Ridhi Dogra-starrer is being honoured with the German Star of India - Director’s Vision award at the 20th Indian Film Festival Stuttgart 2023.

“It’ll release in Germany on OTT, too. We are starting work on the second part in November this year. It will be bigger and better. I am really keen to see what kind of numbers we will get — though, when you make a movie, you make the best one possible. So, when the audience laps it up on OTT, it’s gratifying,” adds Jha.

All the same, he laments that back home, smaller films are treated unfairly. “We, as an industry, tend to not add up the parts for the impact a film has in total. Though comparatively, we were a medium-sized film, the crew was on a par with any other in the world. We got a great director of photography from France. The stunt team of Ong Bak (the Thai martial arts franchise) designed our stunts. This is where the art of producing a film lies,” he signs off.
