Mrunal made a foray into South cinema last year, with the much-appreciated Sita Ramam opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The actress who considers it to be a turning point in her career, will soon be seen in a Telugu movie opposite Vijay Deverakonda.
Speaking of being part of the South film industry, Mrunal says, “Working in the South has widened my outlook on cinema and life as an actor. It made me realize that cinema is global, but there are nuances unique to each place and language. With Love Sonia (2018), I got a chance to work with an international team, and that was such an important learning curve. With South films, what I find commendable is the depth they lend to each character. Every character on paper and on screen has a defined arc. Even the process of filmmaking is so unique. Their filmmakers have such a distinctive and intuitive way of telling a story. The shoot time is longer, but there is so much attention to detail which is very interesting for me and my own process as an actor.”
The actress who was seen in Hindi films like Jersey and Selfiee, added, “What was also very heartwarming was to see how nice and kind the entire production team is to everyone on set, despite someone being new to their language. They truly welcome you with open arms and treat you like their own.”
Mrunal was quick to shower praises on her co-star Vijay Deverakonda, too. She said, “I’ve known Vijay for a while and he’s extremely soft spoken. He has this great spark as soon as he comes in front of the camera.”
