Erica Fernandes on shifting base to Dubai and why it isn’t a hindrance
Hasti Doshi (MID-DAY; July 10, 2023)
Erica Fernandes, who shifted to Dubai in September last year, is happy with her decision. She tells us, “I wanted to explore a new market and expand my professional horizons. That motivated me to make this move.”
Talking about work opportunities in Dubai, Erica, who has also turned entrepreneur, shares, “It’s an ideal place to work with people from different nationalities. I have set up a production house and an event management company, and it’s an exciting and challenging journey that requires a significant amount of effort and time.”
Erica admits that initially, she was skeptical about moving to Dubai. “Moving to a different country can be challenging, both personally and professionally. It’s natural to have some doubts, but I believe that taking risks can lead to valuable experiences and growth,” she says.
If acting is still on her mind, isn’t she worried about not getting projects in India now? Erica, who is known for shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 and Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi, replies, “Not really. I have been fortunate to get offers despite my relocation. Since I am living just three hours away, it feels like I am in Mumbai itself. I have travelled for projects in the past and it has never been a major hindrance. Ultimately, I believe that my talent, passion and determination will attract opportunities, regardless of my location.”
