Kaavaalaa, the song featuring actors Rajinikanth and Tamannaah Bhatia, has taken social media by storm with countless reels and versions being made on it. Singer Shilpa Rao, who debuted in the Tamil music industry with the track, is overwhelmed. “It has blown out of proportion. I never expected it to become this big,” she exclaims.

The Anirudh Ravichander composition is a part of the film Jailer’s soundtrack. Rao says she wanted to be very sure of her Tamil music debut. “This is my first Tamil song and I wanted to do it right, so that it sounds convincing. It has gone beyond everyone’s expectations, not only in India, but also abroad. We have been ecstatic about the love it has received,” says the 39-year-old.

The singer credits the composer for helping her get the song right. “Anirudh helped me with every word and line. From getting the right pronunciation to being on point with the rhythm, he helped me with everything,” says Rao.

Having seen some viral videos on social media, the Besharam Rang (Pathaan) singer gushes, “It’s amazing how a piece of music can bring people together. It only shows that music knows no language or bar.”
