Gauahar Khan talks about life after becoming a mother and her dramatic postpartum weight loss
Kavita Awaasthi (HINDUSTAN TIMES; July 7, 2023)
“Like life has a completely new meaning,” says Gauahar Khan when asked what becoming a mother feels like. Talking to us exclusively, Khan, who gave birth to son Zehaan on May 10, says, “To everyone who wants to be a mum, I would say, just do it! It’s a feeling like no other. I feel extremely grateful that I could go through this.”
Meanwhile, the Shiksha Mandal (2022) actor’s postpartum weight loss has been the subject of intense debate after she revealed in an Insta Story that she lost 10 kg in 10 days.
Admitting that it took her by surprise, too, Khan says, “I thought it would take a while. I was being fed everything possible after delivery by my sister, mum and mother-in-law. It could be because I was completely active right from the second morning, up and about, doing everything on my own for my baby. The physical activity, maybe fatigue even and everything I needed to put in for the child, led to the weight loss.”
Khan, who will get back to working out this week with yoga, before getting back to her usual routine, still has 4-5 kg to lose to get back to her pre-pregnancy body. “I’m hoping that the last few kilos is not going to be stubborn fat! All my respect and love for everyone who’s going through this (trying to shed pregnancy weight),” says the 39-year-old.
What does she feel about the social media reactions to her weight loss? “No time to see reactions. I put [the Insta story] out there for everyone seeking to be on a similar emotional and physical journey. I acknowledge the fact that everyone’s journey is personal and positivity is the only way forward,” she signs off.
